Our OpportunityWe have an opportunity to harness solar power to not only generate thousands of hours of clean energy for our community, but even more importantly, to create a high-tech learning center for sustainability.
SEEDs for De Pere is raising funds to create a high-profile renewable energy project at the Kress Family Library featuring:
More than 209,000 visits are made to the Kress Family Library each year, and thousands more pass by on Route 32/North Broadway and the adjacent Fox River Trail. Based on a survey of all Brown County Library branches, the Kress Family Library building provides an optimal location for sun exposure, roof size and building structure for a solar-electric array.
The library is already taking steps toward energy efficiency by changing lighting and updating mechanical systems. Those facts, combined with the natural educational nature of a library facility, make the Kress Family Library the ideal place for a solar energy awareness project
